Diabetes Care and Education
The Diabetes Self-Management Service* at Titus Regional Medical Center has held Recognition status from the American Diabetes Association since 2003. Our team of healthcare professionals provide inpatient and outpatient services by a registered dietitian and a certified diabetes care and education specialist.
These approved education services offer individualized teaching that covers a wide range of topics, including:
- The diabetes disease process
- Nutrition management
- Physical activity
- Diabetes medications
- Blood glucose and sensor monitoring
- Detecting and treating acute complications
- Preventing and treating chronic complications through risk reduction
- Goal setting and problem-solving
- Psychological adjustment
- Pre-conception care
- Management of diabetes and gestational diabetes in pregnancy
Diabetes Meal Planning
Meal planning is a cornerstone of effective diabetes self-management. It helps you manage blood glucose levels, maintain a healthy weight, and prevent or delay complications. Our registered dietitians consider many factors including the individual’s health conditions, food preferences, cultural background, work and sleep habits as they focus on personalized care and teach a wide array of techniques to help you live well with diabetes.
Diabetes Support Group
You are invited to take part in our monthly Diabetes Support Group! This support group offers a valuable opportunity to connect with others, share experiences, gain knowledge, and find encouragement in your diabetes journey. The meetings are held monthly, on the third Tuesday of each month (excluding June, July and August) at 4 pm at 2003 N. Jefferson, Suite 1.

Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program (MDPP)
The Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program (MDPP) is offered twice yearly at TRMC and boasts a national success rate of over 71% in normalizing blood glucose levels.This comprehensive program includes 26 sessions of group education and support, focusing on lifestyle behaviors proven to improve health, support gradual weight loss, and increase physical activity.
