The Behavioral Health Unit is a geriatric-psychiatric unit which admits patients with mental health needs for psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. Patients are admitted either voluntarily or involuntarily depending on individual needs. They are admitted from nursing homes, ERs, other hospitals or simply through family/friend referrals. Assessments are free and can be done in the home. Treatment team meetings are held every Wednesday to discuss discharge planning. These meetings involve the patient, psychiatrist, nurse, social worker and dietician as needed.

Patients are treated by both a psychiatrist and a medical doctor. They are followed by a mental health specific social worker who works with discharge placement.

Referrals are confidential and may be placed by calling 903-577-6520.
